Friday Favorites: Hairy Kitten Paws & the Meaning of Life

A lot of great things have been happening the past month. One of which is all the love and positivity everyone who has been reading my blog has been giving me. You are all filling my heart with warm and gooey things, so thank you! My husband and my best friend both started college! Whoa, super proud! And I’ve been booking more weddings than ever for my rental business. It’s been ridiculously busy, but at least it hasn’t been boring.

So a godly and hardworking old man I knew passed away yesterday. I know I’ve been focusing a lot on following your dreams and finding your passion, but when it comes right down to it, when you die, it doesn’t really matter whether you ever actually found your passion or followed your dreams. What matters is if you truly understood why you are here on earth, and what’s going to happen to you after you die. The only thing that matters is whether you choose God. He’s already chosen you (hence why He created you). Everything else is just like delightful little cupcakes, fun to enjoy, but you still have to have your main meal. Rest in peace Gene.

Since we are on the subject of delightful little cupcakes, I would like to start doing a monthly gratitude list of the little things I’m thankful for. It’s easy to focus on the negative (guilty!), and to completely ignore all the wonderful things that go on in your life. This creates complete and utter discontent. Well, it’s time for me to pump out the grumpy, and pump in the positive. So here are some of the little things I’ve been enjoying lately:

Light Purple Heart clip art  The long tufts of hair that oddly poke out of my kittens paws

Light Purple Heart clip art  Colorful to-do lists with heart shaped bullet points

Light Purple Heart clip art  Random treasures found at yard sales

Light Purple Heart clip art  A glance up at the stars

Light Purple Heart clip art  Glass bottled root beers

Light Purple Heart clip art  That brief moment I was able to open my window and let in the fresh cool air

Light Purple Heart clip art My homemade room spray with sweet orange & lavender essential oil

Light Purple Heart clip art  Quirky t-shirts

Light Purple Heart clip art  People surprising me with food

So what have been your little cupcakes lately? List em’ out.

  1. I enjoy how you think and write….thanks for that sharing with the world! Also, it was nice of you to remember Gene in a kind way that helps us to remember that we have one life to live.

If you haven’t yet read Linda Ellis’ poem titled The Dash – it is worth the read. Here’s a link to her site: http://www.linda-ellis.com/the-dash-the-dash-poem-by-linda-ellis-.html

What I enjoy about it is that she reminds us that it’s the dash between our date of birth and date of death that represents the time we have on earth – we need to be proud of our work, contributions, and relationships we’ve built during our dash.
