I believe people like to read about and see what’s going on in other people’s lives, because it gives them ideas and inspiration for their own, so I am going to share some of the adventures and stories, as well as a few of my favorite things from this past year. It was filled with bacon, meteor showers, stress, lots and lots of stress, and the people I love.
I rang in the new year for 2015 with a ridiculous and fun prank with a few of my favorite friends, one of those who happened to be running pretty late. One of my other friends had also invited a guy she had been dating whom none of us had met yet, so we decided that we would have three of us act as hostages tied to chairs with gags in our mouths, while the others hid. As soon as she got there the guy (whom she had never seen before) walked out of a back room with a “gun” a.k.a. an Airsoft rifle as we all squirmed in our seats. I went so far as to have a fake makeup bruise and dab water under my eyes for tears. Did she fall for it? No. But luckily she did fall for my husband jumping out of the closet behind her with an airhorn. Regardless it was super fun to plan out. But just so you know I DON’T recommend this, as the poor soul you pull it on might either fall into a heap on the floor, or pull out some super human karate moves and make the other guy fall to the floor.
My husband made me a “davebox” when I was sad because my birchbox was taking too long to get here. He filled it with bacon, chocolate chip cookies, and other awesome treats. It was the sweetest and most adorable thing ever.
I went on an all girl’s trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee filled with hiking, yummy breakfasts, and belly laughs.
I went to a hot air balloon festival in Helen, GA with my mom and my best friend. It was incredible seeing all the colorful and huge hot air balloons take off. Plus, we also go to ride on tubes down the river. So much fun!
My best friend and I finally finished watching the entire series of Gilmore Girls after almost three years of watching it every Thursday night. *Tear* it was amazing!
I released my blog in July! It’s always been my dream since I was a wee one to be a writer (ever since I won a writing contest on “I love you mom because” in the 4th grade by spelling sweatheart instead of sweetheart), and I’m finally making it happen.
I went to Cumberland Island, GA, which you can read about in my post here. It’s an island filled with wild horses, seashells, and gorgeous live oak trees covered in Spanish moss.
I participated in the Color Run, and went to Six Flags with my best friend all in the same day, and didn’t die! Plus we bought season passes for 2016!
My husband made me this super impressive card for our anniversary. I’m talking cut out arms and legs and glued them all together type of made. He’s the best.
Star Wars! The movie was awesome! Literally one of my favorites! Rey is the bomb and oozes girl power!
And finally…we bought land!! Ahhhhh!!! One step closer to one of my other dreams, owning an adorable little cottage in the woods.
I finally created my perfect reading area/lazy work area. The recliner was a hand-me-down, the bookcase was a gift, and I got most of the books at estate and garage sales for a couple of bucks.
I bought a diffuser and some essential oils. I love it, because it naturally scents my home without all those harsh chemicals you find in traditional room sprays, etc. And apparently the essential oils are supposed to do good stuff for your mind and body.
My husband bought me this super awesome Harry Potter coloring book!
The songs I was obsessed with in 2015 included:
“Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber
“Sound & Color” by the Alabama Shakes
“Smoke Break” by Carrie Underwood
and “Try a Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding, which I could not stop listening to!
Books I Read
Some of my favorite books I read this year included:
Dracula by Bram Stoker. I seriously loved this book more than I thought I would. It was dark and creepy and awesome.
Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith a.k.a. J.K. Rowling. This is her third detective novel, and it’s by far my favorite. She did a really good job of making the villain twisted, and kept my interest the entire way through.
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. This is a semi-autobiographical book about a girl’s decline into mental illness and depression. Although sometimes I felt like I understood a little too well, this book was really interesting and insightful.
Favorite Cat Pictures
2015 was a good year, but it was way too stressful. This year is going to be full of writing and cutting things out of my life.
